The line control method allows you to control the position of the sail in relation to the wind. Lightweight fishing line, kept on a kite spool, is attached to the mainsheet.

Primarily, you get into the water with the model, and wade along with it as you keep the sail trim. (via the control line) Being in the water, and feeling the pull of the wind on the sail, brings the activity to life.

We designed our model so that you can create a sailboat uniquely your own. Using simple methods and materials, you can craft different sail designs. The mast can be placed in various positions.

Our wooden models are made from clear cedar,with more buoyancy, less warp, than pine, and it holds paint well.

Ours are also centerboard models, (unheard of among radio control and free sailing pond yachts). It comes with two hand fitted cedar centerboards, one finished and one you can "fair in" to make a custom foil.

The MkI, like all our models, is simply configured for the beginner, with a few simple crafting methods, introduced in its instructions and on-line, the real exploration of its design potential begins.

Unlike toy boats, ours are presented as a craft, that can be taken to different skill levels, encouraging creativity and learning that lets you explore the dynamics of various sail types, hull and foil design and sailing theory. (..while having fun at the beach!)
